Army Cadet Medal of Merit - WALSH

WALSH SUMMARY

The WALSH Bar honours the legacy of Lieutenant-General Geoffrey Walsh, whose vision and  perseverance were instrumental in establishing The  Army Cadet League of Canada. Before his passing, he expressed a wish that one Army Cadet be nationally recognized each year as Canada’s most outstanding.

This legacy lives on through the Army Cadet Medal of  Merit with the prestigious WALSH bar — an award reserved for an outstanding Advanced Leadership Program Army Cadet who has risen above and exemplifies the aim and values of the Royal Canadian Army Cadets.

This bar, evolving from the Lieutenant-General Walsh Memorial Sword, is awarded to a single Advanced Learning Program Army Cadet whose excellence, character, and service stand above all others across the country.

As a national award with only one recipient annually, the WALSH Bar represents the highest level of accomplishment and distinction in the Army Cadet program.
